Francis "RCY" Fundemera (born June 4, 2006) is a Filipino-American professional Dota 2 midlaner currently competing for GamerLegion. At just 19 years old, he is one of the most naturally gifted mid players to ever come out of North America—and I say that without any hesitation. This kid is the real deal.

Early Life & Origins

RCY was born in Gubat, Philippines. He started playing DotA: Allstars when he was 8 or 9 years old—yes, you read that correctly—and was introduced to Dota 2 by his brother in 2016 when he was around 10. His family later migrated to the United States, which is where his rank climb began to turn heads globally.

His parents were initially against the idea of him pursuing Dota 2 as a career. And honestly, you can't blame them. But then they saw him on television and watched the prize money come in. I think they changed their minds pretty quickly after that.

The Climb

What made people notice RCY first wasn't a tournament win—it was the ladder. In 2021, at just 15 years old, he climbed from 8,700 MMR to 9,500 MMR in two months on the US East server. That kind of pace on that server, at that age, is basically unheard of. He was occasionally streaming on Facebook at the time, and the clips were enough to catch the eye of Team DogChamp — specifically Kitzz, who was leaving the team and personally messaged RCY to ask if he wanted to try going pro.

That message changed everything.

Rise Through the Ranks

RCY made his professional debut as a stand-in and quickly became a permanent fixture on DogChamp. In the 2023 DPC season, DogChamp ran through Division II without dropping a single match, and RCY finished as the player with the second-highest average KDA in the entire league. Analysts covering the tournament — including Fear and T-Panda — were already calling him out by name.

After DogChamp, he moved to Wildcard Gaming, where he continued to grow against increasingly tough European competition. The Wildcard era was frustrating at times—Shopify Rebellion kept blocking them from qualifier spots—but RCY was consistently the reason Wildcard stayed competitive. Even in losses, he was the one people were watching.

GamerLegion & The Next Level

In November 2025, GamerLegion acquired the Apex Genesis roster, with RCY as the centerpiece of the mid lane. This was his first move to a true tier-1 organization, and from what we've seen at ESL One Birmingham 2026, he belongs there completely. The KEZ performances especially—if you don't ban that hero for him, you are going to lose the game. Simple as that. I've said it multiple times covering GL matches, and I'll keep saying it.

The team is still finding its footing as a unit, but RCY's individual ceiling is already tier-1. He's 19. That's the scary part.

Playstyle & Reputation

RCY plays mid like someone who genuinely enjoys making the other midlaner's life miserable. High aggression in lane, constant rotation threat, and a hero pool built around impact—Kez, Invoker, Pangolier, and Ember Spirit. These aren't farm-dependent heroes that need 30 minutes to matter. These are heroes that take over games at 15 minutes if you're not careful, and RCY knows exactly how to use that window.

What separates him from other mechanically gifted young mids is his game sense. He doesn't just win his lane — he converts it into pressure across the map. That's a maturity you don't usually see at 19.

Fun Facts

– RCY started playing DotA: Allstars at around 8 or 9 years old in the Philippines—making him one of the youngest players in the pro scene who has genuinely been around the game his entire life.

– His parents were against his pro career until they saw him on television. Now they're watching him play at The International.
