Introduction to Dota 2

Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov was born on February 25, 2002, in Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia. His journey into Dota 2 began at the young age of 13 when he discovered the game through friends. Initially, he played casually, but by 2017, he decided to take a more serious approach to competitive play.

Growing up, his dedication to Dota 2 often clashed with his studies, leading to disagreements with his parents. As a result, he spent a lot of time playing from PC cafes rather than at home. His early hero pool included Axe, Earthshaker, and Magnus, but over time, he specialized in the offlane role—a position he continues to dominate today.

Career

In August 2017, Collapse reached 6000 MMR, which motivated him to form an amateur team with friends. They participated in smaller commercial tournaments and the Russian Esports Cup, but it wasn’t until 2019 that he took his first major step into professional Dota 2 by joining Cascade.

During his eight-month tenure with Cascade, Collapse started gaining recognition in the regional scene. His performance in various online tournaments and qualifiers for ESL One Los Angeles 2020 and ESL One Birmingham 2020, although unsuccessful in securing a spot, showcased his raw talent. This caught the attention of Andrey “Korb3n” Belov, the coach of Yellow Submarine, who offered Collapse a place on the team.

At this point, Collapse was at a crossroads—he had applied to a medical college and was considering quitting Dota 2. However, the opportunity with Yellow Submarine changed his trajectory, keeping him in esports.

Team Spirit

By the end of 2020, Yellow Submarine’s roster was signed by Team Spirit, providing Collapse with a platform to display his skills at the highest level. He quickly established himself as one of the best offlaners in the game, particularly excelling with heroes like Mars, Magnus, and Timbersaw.

In 2021, Team Spirit made a crucial roster change that helped them qualify for the WePlay AniMajor, where they secured a top 8 finish. Despite this strong performance, they still lacked the DPC points needed for a direct invite to The International 2021 (TI10). Undeterred, they fought through the regional qualifiers, defeating Team Empire in a tense 3-2 final, securing their place at TI10.

Playstyle

Collapse is widely recognized for his aggressive and mechanically precise playstyle, often setting the tempo for his team. His Magnus plays at TI10 became legendary, demonstrating his mastery of positioning, initiation, and team fight control. As he continues his career with Team Spirit, he remains a key figure in professional Dota 2, shaping the offlane role for future players.
